MW3 is more fun than Black Ops

    There. I said it.
Before I start getting mindlessly bashed, let me explain my reasoning.

    In terms of weapon balance:
MW3 has a balanced weapon set, except for a few overpowered weapons, and a few underpowered weapons, while for BO, the Stoner dominates the LMGs, the AK74 dominates the SMGs and Stoner, and the FAMAS and AUG dominates everything else.
For weapon uniqueness, most of MW3's weapons are unique for the most part, while half of BO's weapon stats are just copied with each other, and the SMGs all just feel the same.

Another thing is that MW3 runs much more smoothly than BO, and is more fast paced. This makes it much more fluid and fun in my opinion.

The worst part of MW3 is easily the spawning. However, I would much rather play a game with bad spawning than a game with bad hit detection. Bad hit detection leads to constant BS kills and constant rage, especially when one's the last man standing in SND. Bad spawning just isn't as noticeable and annoying as bad hit detection I believe.

A point I'd like to make is of the strike packages and weapon patches.
IW did try to bring innovation with its strike packages. Although the support needed work for sure, specialist was nice and having 3 different styles of killstreaks I thought was a quite nice and fresh innovation for it.
The weapons were pretty badly balanced at first, but we oftentimes forget how many patches went out to try to fix this issue. Of course, we could definitely use a few more, especially with the shotguns, but the weapon patches were given far more attention by IW than by Treyarch. MW3 had several weapon patches, BO had almost non. Simple as that.

Another bad thing about MW3 is that every map is for the most part small and close quarters, which helps lead to the bad spawning.
Although this is definitely a bad thing, AT LEAST it leads to near-constant action, which can be quite fun if you're not getting spawn killed.

One other thing that's said is that BO has more customization than MW3, what with the emblems and face paint and such.
Although this is true, one has to remember that face camos aren't that very noticeable. Certainly not in 1st person, and not really much in 3rd person either. However, sometimes people forget that MW3 has weapon leveling and proficiencies.
Weapon leveling gave a sense of...well...leveling up with your weapon. It was a nice addition that made you feel pretty cool to fully level up your weapons, rather than just buying what you needed and being done with it. Proficiencies undeniably added a sense of customization to your weapons, and an extra layer to weapon depth that I feel is underappreciated.

Lastly, one of the major complaints of MW3 is the deathstreaks and underpowered explosives.
This is also bad, no denying it, but I think I would rather have underpowered perks and overpowered deathstreaks, as opposed to overpowered explosives and overpowered perks like in MW2. Deathstreaks don't happen all that often either, considering how many times you need to die for them to happen. To add on to that, underpowered explosives in a way leads to more gun on gun gameplay, which I believe we could all appreciate.

Well, there you have it. Rather than just saying that one is better without any supports or arguments, I've given plenty of reasons why my personal preference goes to MW3 than BO.
Have fun bashing on me, dear MW3 haters/BO fanboys!

My 500+ hours in Black Ops and 8 hours in MW3 speaks for itself. I think the spawn system is waaay more detrimental to MW3 than anything in Blops.

    I agree bro.

    1) playing a cod without stalker after mw3 was really weird, and the ads was slooooow
    2) hit registration
    3) sluggish aiming and movements, maybe it was my mouse but it just didn't feel as slow.
    4) mw3 had more challenges that were easier to track, and I like that stuff. I also liked prestiging, in blops the cod points killed prestiging as you had to grind to get enough of them again.

Honestly BO's hit detection was bad in the beginning but it got better in my experience. MW3's hit detection doesn't matter because most of the time you don't get any hit markers because lag compensation has decided you never fired your gun.

I'm not going to hate on you and start the neg repping and all dad, because I actually agree in a way.

The weapons of MW3 were generally a whole lot more fun than those of Black Ops. IW have ALWAYS done well in creating a diverse and interesting weapon set. For me, this is the one huge thing that MW3 had over Black Ops.

Now, I'm not really a fan of either of these games, but both have them had their pros and cons. For me, the biggest killer of Black Ops was the lack of diversity among the weapons, as well of the lack of proper balance. Not only did we see everyone using the same one or two weapons, Treyarch also failed big time on an entirely different front. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about, the whole copy/paste thing. Instead of making each gun unique and interesting, they just copy/pasted one weapon's statistics to another. And not just fire rate and damage, even recoil patterns of certain weapons were completely identical. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Treyarch are fhucking lazy *****.

Now, I know a lot of you may be thinking "How is this important? Why would you value diversity more highly than you would balance?". Well, let me tell you one thing, people play games and get enjoyment from games for different reasons. Half of mine comes from experimenting with different weapons and setups and exploring the weapon's traits, statistics, variables, etc. For others, all they care about is whether one weapon overpowers the rest or not. I understand that because, like I said, people play games for different reasons. For me personally, however, the lack of diversity among the weapons in Black Ops made for a BIG problem, and the game took a real hit in longevity here.

So, what about MW3 then? Does this mean I think MW3 was the better game - more fun than Black Ops? My answer to that is no. MW3 had other problems, unfortunately. I admire IW's ability to create diverse and interesting weapon classes, but this does not make the entire game. To put it simply, the game just wasn't fun. The general feel of the game, that is. It's hard to explain, but that's all I can really say. I don't know if it was due to the whole "same old shit" thing, as in it didn't innovate or bring anything new to the series, or if it was something else which I just can't quite put my finger on. Either way, the game as a whole was thoroughly dislikeable for me, and... well I don't know, I think I'll just keep it at that. The game simply was not fun.

All things considered, I'm going to say Black Ops > MW3.

MW3 would be a better game....IF it didn't have such bad lag and map design. The main game is good but its core design (maps, latency, spawn system) render it unplayable. When MW3 is a better game in terms of weapon balance and variety but that is about it. When it doesn't feel like its lagging, it is as good as black ops (for me at least) Thats not to say that BO doesn't have problems. Black ops advantages are its core design (Great maps, pretty good spawn system,a truthful latency system as in a 4bar is a 4bar) but its weapon design SUCKS.

Every year, I buy, play and have fun with the latest CoD game. I'll continue to play the latest CoD game until the next one is released. The only CoD game I stopped playing early was W@W. The only reason I stopped playing W@W, was because of the forced host migration (an Aussie lobby would become an overseas lobby, if someone from overseas joined the lobby). It wan't any fun to play one game, have the host migrate and be forced to search for a new local lobby all the time.

In my opinion, I think too many people from the CoD community take the game way too seriously and over analyse and dissect the game to the point where all they can see is the bad stuff. In Crunch's post, he's basically choosing the lesser of 2 evils, saying I'd rather put up with this bad thing, than that bad thing. Any time he does mention something positive about either game, he points out the flaw, or negative side of that aspect of the game. I'm assuming he doing that in order to be objective.

Why can't people focus on the positive things with each game and just have fun?

Who said we don't try? I'm not saying that i never had fun moments in MW3, but to me and to many others, the things that annoy us (or just frankly piss me off) outweight the factors that are enjoyable about MW3. I will say that BO is not the most enjoyable game out there. HOWEVER i would say that i enjoy it more the MW3, thus i will play Call of Dury:Black Ops. People play COD mainly because everyone else plays it, not because of its outstanding quality, graphics, or design. people enjoy it because anyone can do well in it. MW3 was different as in the fact that for the first time, the design and quality became bad enough for the majority people to say this game is shit. And while we say this every year, I think MW3 was the first COD game to have a backlash of this level simply because IMO its unplayable. It was unplayable to the point i mainly played other games instead of COD related ones. I played Battlefield 3, Borderlands 2, Team Fortress 2, and loved all of them and to me what did i miss by not playing MW3? Nothing.

Because in these two games, the bad overshadows the good (or at least IMO). And besides, I don't think it really makes sense to just "focus on the positive things and have fun". You have to pay attention to both the positives and negatives if you want to judge the game and resolve how much fun you can get from it. If the bad overshadows the good, then why not just play another game? Sometimes, no matter how much you focus on the positives, you can't get fun from the game (MW3 for most people). In other words, you're better off just playing something else.

John and Junaid, I understand what you're both saying. I guess I just accept things for what they are. That's not to say the CoD games are perfect and I don't see the problems, but I just don't care enough about them to let them stop my enjoyment.

To me, a game is fun if it plays well, not if it looks fantastic, or because of the content it has. CoD games haven't really changed the way they play since CoD4 and it's because of that I still enjoy them. There have been loads of games that I've traded in, or taken back to the store after one day of playing it, simply because it didn't play well, so it wasn't fun. That's not the case with CoD games. They all play well and feel familiar enough, that you can swap between them without too much time to adjust for the differences. That's fun to me.

For this reason, I find it interesting that so many people have found so many problems with the CoD sequels after CoD4. It's like they're scared of change or something (no offense to anyone).

Anyway, each to their own. Everybody has a different opinion and their entitled to it. An opinion can never be wrong. I respect your points of view guys...

MCC, I understand where you are coming from, from the title, but I did not read, so what I'm going to say is the only thing that bring people back to MW3.

    THE GUN SYSTEM & SURVIVAL.

I agree. People love to hop on the bandwagon and hate on MW3 but can't see how its good in its own way. The weapon balancing and the lighting are just of the top of my head

Actually the two major things which I really don't like in BO are the weapon balance and hit detection. Both are better in MW3 (but not as good as in MW2). Also there are a lot of few things which make me pull out my hairs. But I could live with them if the two major thing would be fixed.

But of course Black Ops have its share of good things. For example I like the simplier and not stacking killstreak system and I like the perk system too (in MW3 there are at least 4 perks which I never use).

Also lag. There are lag at both game. But I think there are two things which cause the lag. There are dedicated servers at BO but it still got lags (and a very stange kind of lag). At MW3 the lag comes from the host-client system. If you try out with mods and dedicated server the game become much smother.

Obviously from the overall consensus of the community, I can tell that i'm in the minority with mr. crunch up there. I liked mw3 much more than black ops. I played mw3 pretty regularly up to 14th prestige, and I just went back to black ops about a month ago and went from 3rd to 5th prestige. One major point that I really like about about mw3 is the advent of stalker for the AR's (which was mentioned above me somewhere I believe). In my opinion, stalker allows for some skill gap to be put into the game aside from just a epeen connection fest. In black ops the strafe speed on subs is good, but strafing with a AR is like shuffling on your knees in glue. This is turn leads to having to draw up only when you've got a target in sight and having to drop sights to strafe again behind cover and lends to connection speed.

I also really enjoyed the seemingly smoother gameplay from mw3 as well as the quicker pace. The assault streaks in mw3 seemed to speed up the gameplay as well without being over bearing.

The final thing that I enjoyed about mw3 was the fact that there was no dolphin dive, and since i'm an avid drop-shotter this also seemed to pick up the pace of engagements, since I didn't have to worry about leaping like seabiscuit.
